PITTSBURGH (Aug. 27, 2019) - The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is inviting the community to celebrate the power of inclusion by coming together for events at our eight branches during Welcoming Week, Sept. 13-22. A national initiative of Welcoming America, Welcoming Week gives our Association and YMCAs from across the country the opportunity to amplify our message that there is "One Y For All."

Welcoming Week promotes cross-cultural understanding and community cohesion by bringing together immigrants and US-born residents in a spirit of unity. Our branches will be having special Welcoming Week events at each of their facilities, including guest speakers, cooking demonstrations from local chefs, international sports festivals, art celebrating cultures, group exercise classes that incorporate various music and ethnic dances, and so much more!

These events are free and open to the public.

At the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, we believe Allegheny County is stronger when everyone in the community feels welcome and we can all work together for the common good. Welcoming Week is an opportunity for neighbors to connect, find common ground and celebrate our shared values. We are proud to be a part of Welcoming Week, which is demonstrating that in places large and small, rural and urban, people of all backgrounds are coming together to create stronger communities.
