Healthy Kids Day® also creates opportunities to strengthen community connections, partner with local organizations, and provide a welcoming space where families of all backgrounds can learn, play, and thrive together.

Mark your calendars! Healthy Kids Day® returns to the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh on Saturday, April 18, 2026. This free, fun-filled event is open to the community and will take place at the following participating locations:

 

Serving the North Side for generations, the Allegheny YMCA brings families together through youth development, wellness, and community connection. Healthy Kids Day® celebrates the spirit of this historic neighborhood and the bright future ahead.

At the Allegheny YMCA, families can enjoy face painting, kids yoga, interactive children’s activities, and community resource tables. These offerings are designed to encourage physical activity, creativity, and healthy habits for children and families.

At the Baierl Family YMCA, we are excited to host our annual Healthy Kids Day on April 18 from 12:00–3:00 PM. This free event is open to the public and all YMCA members, welcoming families from across the community for an afternoon of fun, activity, and connection.

Take a break and refuel with a delicious meal from Chick-fil-A, our featured food vendor for the day! Plus, explore 27+ community vendors offering resources, programs, and fun opportunities for the whole family.

Throughout the event, guests will enjoy live entertainment, including headliners from the Josh & Gab Show, Irish dance performances, and engaging group exercise demonstrations for all ages. These performances will take place continuously, creating an energetic and welcoming atmosphere for everyone in attendance.

The Homewood–Brushton YMCA is a cornerstone of the neighborhood, empowering youth and strengthening families through connection and care. Healthy Kids Day® brings the community together to celebrate wellness, play, and possibility.

The Homewood-Brushton YMCA will offer a variety of child-focused fitness and activity stations, including three child fitness classes, chalk and bubbles, and activities hosted by the Lighthouse and Drone Academy. In collaboration with CCAC, kids will also have the opportunity to participate in a step challenge.

A hub for youth sports, wellness, and community engagement, the Sampson Family YMCA creates opportunities for kids and families to grow together. Healthy Kids Day® is a chance to move, play, and connect with neighbors.

Healthy Kids Day at the Sampson Family YMCA will feature interactive zones including the Y-Family Fun Zone, Fitness Corner, Community Station, and Local Heroes area. Early arrivals will receive a free Healthy Kids Day T-shirt (limited to the first 250 guests).

Highlights include:

  • Y-Family Fun Zone: photo booth, face painting, crafts, games, strolling magician, jungle inflatable bounce house, and teaching kitchen demonstrations.
  • Fitness Corner: youth speed and agility course, family yoga, and pickleball.
  • Local Heroes & Food Trucks: Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department, Plum Borough Police, Plum EMS, Earth, Wheel & Fire Pizza, Kona Ice, and The Novel Brew Coffee Truck.
  • Community Station: over a dozen local organizations offering resources and activities for families.

Visitors can also enter for a chance to win a full year of free YMCA membership by completing the Healthy Kids Day Event Passport.

Known for its focus on families, fitness, and lifelong learning, the Spencer Family YMCA supports healthy habits at every age. Healthy Kids Day® invites the community to explore fun, movement, and creativity together.

For the first time, the Spencer Family YMCA is teaming up with St. Clair Health to expand Healthy Kids Day from 9:30 AM–2:00 PM. This partnership allows the Y to offer a wider range of health and wellness activities for the entire family.

Activities will include a touch-a-truck session in the parking lot, children’s car seat safety checks courtesy of the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company, and hands-on activities both inside and outside the facility. Adults can access screenings, nutrition consultations, and information about YMCA and St. Clair Health programs, including dietitian tips and wellness resources.

Visitors can learn about YMCA programs such as Active at Any Age, family boot camps, and LIVESTRONG, a wellness initiative for adult cancer survivors. The branch also highlights its Veterans Wellness Program, offering 12-week cohorts for veterans to engage in fitness and wellness activities.

Rooted in service and inclusion, the Thelma Lovette YMCA supports youth, families, and community well-being. Healthy Kids Day® reflects the Y’s commitment to equity, opportunity, and joyful movement for all.

Healthy Kids Day at the Thelma Lovette YMCA will include special needs and education workshops, performances by local arts groups, and sports activities for children of all ages. Community vendors, including Pittsburgh Water and Girl Scouts, will provide educational and interactive experiences for families.
